A Letter from Ella
Meeting mothers daily in and around Budimex (Marie Curie) Hospital and listening to their stories can be a heart-rending experience.
Today I met one mother who currently has two invalid children in the hospital. Little 1 ½ year old lay on her shoulder while little 2 ½ old Florin hung on to her skirt – looking so pale. Despite this, mother admitted it was better for all of them to be in Budimex (Marie Curie) Hospital as she has neither heat nor light at home – what poverty!
A second mother came to ask for prayers for her tiny baby. She and her husband were about to get out for Targu Mures where the baby would undergo a heart operation. How such a tiny babe could survive an operation is amazing!
Fathers too play a part in caring for a sick child in a hospital. Such one is Alex’ father – for a year he has sat at the bedside of his son who is now 11 years old. Alex was knocked down by a car and rendered unconscious then into a coma. For the best part of a year he has lain like that but – what a joy – Alex is sitting up and smiling now!
