A Letter from Patrick McGinnis

The atmosphere in Budimex (Marie Curie) Hospital has changed for the better since my visit there nine years ago. There is now discernable warmth in the staff and a more hospitable climate for patients and families.
The lethargic attitude noticeable in some areas of the hospital in the past had practically disappeared by 2005 on my visit in the month of May.
The newly refurbished corridors and wards is a pleasant example of the change that can impact on patients, staff and visitors when they experience excellence being created. Much of the new and happier climate has been created by the work of Sisters of Mercy and the excellent band of voluntary helpers in Budimex (Marie Curie) Hospital, supported by Scotland, Ireland, England and many other parts of the world.
New playgroup and crèche facilities with enthusiastic volunteers leading play, education and therapy is a most rewarding and worthwhile change, improving the environment on wards and ancillary areas can only build confidence excellence and a loving, caring climate.
The Sisters of Mercy and their Christian friends’ input into forcing change at all levels are resulting in real progress and a shining example of Christ’s love.
